Fanwood is part of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood school district, with five elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school, all of which are in Scotch Plains, close to the Fanwood border. The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School had 1,555 students enrolled this year, 59 percent of whom took one or more of the 17 advanced-placement courses offered.  Private school choices include St. Bartholomew Academy for prekindergarten through Grade 8 and Union Catholic High School, both in Scotch Plains.
